Coaches Change Lives

Future Champs & Boxing is Love is running a campaign to raise funds to send our three coaches: Harrison Mshua, Kassim Hassan and Omay Tembo on an elite 5 coaching course with master trainers Gert Strydom and Anton Gilmore at the High-Performance Centre in Johannesburg.

The course which has been developed by Gilmore of Fight with Insight and Strydom of the No Mercy Boxing Gym based at the HPC based in Randburg, covers the full coaching spectrum: communication skills, class structuring, training drills, fitness and conditioning, nutrition - all from beginner to advanced levels as well as the use of boxing as a mentorship and engagement tool for youth at risk.

Furthermore, the course covers key models on the running and management of a boxing gym as a commercial entity with practical real-life modules where they will work within a team on the staging of both an amateur and professional boxing event at the HPC facility.

The intensive course runs over a 5-day duration where they will be housed at the Sports Pro Lodge, with theory modules and practical training taking place at the HPC facility. The course includes job shadowing the HPC daily commercial activities as well as the staging of 2 tournaments providing invaluable practical application.

Critical to expanding the Future Champs & Boxing is Love program is to upskill and enable our coaches to deliver a better quality of training to our members, but also develop and strengthen the psycho social tools and skills needed when working with youth. Our coaches will also receive an official certificate of course completion from Fight with Insight & the HPC.

This course provides the knowledge base required to take the training that we deliver to the next level as well as the skills required to best operate and manage our flagship facility in Philippi Cape Town.
